The first pen I have used until it has no more ink.

The picture you see below is the picture of my used Bic pen. It is not the first Bic pen that I have used in my life, it will not even be the last. However, it is the first of its kind that I have used until it could not write anymore; it ran out of ink. The moment I noticed this, it reminded me that everything except God has an expiry date. This pen can either be refilled with ink, or be of some other use, or it could just be thrown away. Well of course, I kept it because it reminds me of something important. Not many pens have been as lucky as this one, to have me keep them.

Why am I going on about the life of a pen?

I am going on about this because we share something in common; LIFE. One day, life will end. Then what happens to us next will be up to our owner.

Now whether you believe you have an owner or not, YOU DO! God created you, He owns you!
Genesis 1:27 (ESV)
So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.
So when your LIFE ends, what will happen to YOU? Well, I'll tell you what; YOU could either be THROWN into HELL for the judgement of your sins OR YOU could be KEPT in HEAVEN with YOUR OWNER because YOU have believed in the free gift of SALVATION that God has given.
John 3:16-19 (ESV)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.
Believe me! God would really like to KEEP you with Him in Heaven! He has gone through all the trouble, sent angels, prophets, spoken to Kings, and even sent His only Son, JESUS CHRIST! He has not even given up on YOU yet.
John 6:40 (ESV)
For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”
He still speaks through PROPHETS, PASTORS, EVANGELISTS, LAY MEN, who have taken the mandate to spread the gospel of salvation. Now is the time of grace! EMBRACE GOD WHILE YOU CAN!

When YOU accept God's Son, JESUS CHRIST, YOU become useful to GOD. He sees YOU through His Son. Jesus was without sin, but YOU are with sin. I do not have to say that twice, but I will. YOU are with sin. GOD HATES SIN, so you certainly will not be KEPT in HEAVEN, if you still bear your sin. THE GOOD NEWS is, when you believe in JESUS CHRIST as your LORD and SAVIOUR, YOUR sins are taken away. THEN GOD CAN KEEP YOU.

I could go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on, but the bottomline is CHOOSE JESUS TODAY!

Me and My Father

I was a little less busy
So I thought to write my life's story
My life, according to biblical history
Is a manifestation of God's glory

I knew you before I formed you...
Before your birth I chose you...
Me? Choose me! How could You?
My life, and everything I am is far from You

"Come now, let's settle this," says the LORD.
"Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow...
Haha! That's impossible Lord.
My sins! How can they be as snow?

But if we are living in the light,
as God is in the light, ...
the blood of Jesus,... cleanses us from all sin.
Oh God! I should live in the light?
The blood of Jesus? How does that work?

My righteous ones will live by faith.
But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away."
Oh Lord! I believe. I have faith!
Have mercy on me, I pray!

‘Quick! Bring the finest robe...
and put it on him...
for this son of mine was dead,
and has now returned to life...

Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!
There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
The law of Moses was unable to save us...
So God did what the law could not do.

I will praise You as long as I live,
lifting up my hands to You in prayer.
I will not die, but I will live.
Your works, for to declare.

This is my story
This my song
Praising my Saviour
All the day long

Once upon a time, there was a dexterous Lithuanian man named Amontos. He thought very highly of himself, but was friendly and approachable. He had many questions about life, but failed to seek the right answers. Amontos did not know that his ignorance would soon let him down. Whilst strolling home from a nice evening walk, two ladies approached him. And as his friendly nature permitted, they started a conversation with him.

Hello, how has your day been?

Amontos: It has been alright thanks. What about you?

It has been well. We would like to invite you to come to church tomorrow. Do you believe in God at all?

Amontos: No, I don't. I am atheist.
Is there any reason why you do not believe in God? (Then his ignorance began to show)

Amontos: Why should I believe in someone who does not exist? There is no proof of God. If God is the creator of all things, who created God? Christianity is just a religion.

No. Christianity is more than just a religion. It is your personal relationship with God. It is more about your faith than following a set of rules. The bible says in John 3: 16 that "for God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, that whosoever BELIEVES in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Amontos: Well if Christianity is more than just a religion, why are people forced to go to church? I have got some African flatmates who say that when they were younger, their parents would force them to go to church. My mum is Christian, and she wears the cross and goes to church occasionally, but I do not believe.

Again, it is not going to church that makes you a Christian. It is your faith. God sees the heart of every man and He sees how sinful we are. He knows everything. So if you wear the cross, or go to church but have not faith in Him, it is in vain.

Amontos: Well if God sees everything and knows everything, I also know everything, so I know God.

Do you believe in heaven and hell?

Amontos: No, I don't. If God is a good God, why would he punish people? So it means He is not a good God or He does not care about people. Why should I believe in such a being?

God loves you. That is why he sent Jesus to die for you. There is a place called Heaven, and there is a place called Hell. All men have sinned, and the result of sin is eternal death. However, God has made a way for us through Jesus Christ, so that we will have eternal life. All it takes is your faith. Jesus said, except a man be born again, He cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. He said I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man gets to the father except through me. So all it takes to escape hell is faith in Jesus.

Amontos: Heaven and Hell does not exist. This is all there is.

Well Amontos, God says if you seek Me, you will find Me. So I would advise you to sincerely seek God and I am sure you will find Him. Take your questions to Him and you will find answers. Can we just say a short prayer with you?

Amontos: Yeah that's fine.
(And they prayed)

If you believe in Christ, you can probably see the great ignorance and lack of knowledge that Amontos had. If you do not, I'll point it out.

First – there is no proof of God. When you are able to describe what the breeze you feel looks like, then maybe 'the proof of God' would become necessary.

Second – Christianity is a religion. There are many religions in the world. Christians have theirs, but what matters more is the faith. Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Titus 3: 5

Third – Why are people forced to go to church? Well, that almost sounds like a criminal act. But going to church will not cause any harm to you. As for the African housemates, I am so sure that their parents only meant well for them. And if they have grown to complain about that, they are also ignorant.

Fourth – My mum wore the cross, and went to church occasionally. Clear evidence that you have the wrong idea of Christianity because of your mum.

Fifth – I also know everything, so I know God. That's just a very foolish thing for anyone to say, especially a university student like Amontos.

Lastly – Why would God punish people? Why would you support the idea of imprisonment for thieves, murderers, paedophiles, and other criminals? I am sure you do.

I wish the best for Amontos, and I hope He finds God. That would be the best thing that would happen to him. If you ask some unlearned questions like Amontos, why not try seeking God through His word. Read the Holy Bible. Seek understanding from a Bible-believing church, and Draw near to God. God loves you, and He wants you to come to Him. You are the one that have taken so long, running away, making excuses, and condemning God.

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

God in His creative power, has made the tree to only bear fruits or bloom flowers when its season is due. A tree is somewhat boring to look upon when its season is not due (there are no flowers). However its beauty is just waiting for the right time and right conditions to show. When the season is due, an attractive fruit or a beautiful flower blooms out of the drab tree. More significantly, the fruit or flower becomes the limelight of the tree.
Ecclesiastes 3: 2
A time to be born, And a time to die;
A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted;

The flower dies when it is time for it to die and it blooms when it is time to. The fruit does likewise. The time for the flower to bloom is fixed, but its environment can be detrimental.

Isaiah 5: 7a
For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the HOUSE OF ISRAEL, And the MEN of Judah are His pleasant plant.

Most trees in the world today are as drab as the tree without a flower or a fruit. The worldly conditions are not good enough for trees to bear fruits or bloom flowers in their season. Only very few trees in the world today can bear fruits in their season.
Psalm 1: 1-3
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

The trees in the world are in the wrong environment. Hence, their flowers cannot bloom, neither can they bear fruits.

Now how can a tree bear fruit in its season?

According to Psalm 1:1-3
Do not walk in the counsel of the ungodly: Basically do not follow the advice of ungodly people. Let the word of God and who know and believe the word of God guide you.

Do not stand in the path of sinners: Do not allow yourself to be found in places where sinners would be found. Neither allow yourself to live your life on the way sinners would.

Do not sit in the seat of the scornful: Do not put yourself in the position to mock God, His people and His work.

Your delight should be in the law of Lord: You should find great pleasure in studying and doing the law of the Lord.

Meditate on the law of Lord both day and night: The law of the Lord should always be on your mind.

The Atonement

Leviticus 17: 11 …for it is the blood that makes an ATONEMENT for the soul.
Revelation 1: 5 and from Jesus Christ … that loved us, and WASHED US FROM OUR SINS IN HIS OWN BLOOD,

Once upon a time, while teaching about the atonement, someone asked me "why the blood of innocent animals was not enough to cleanse our sins. Why was the blood of Jesus needed?" The same person confidently gave a very wrong answer "the blood of Jesus was needed because the devil demanded a greater sacrifice from God". This is an extremely incorrect answer, it is not biblical and it is not true.
For the sake of illustration, let us liken the blood to a detergent, and our sins as dirt. It is pretty obvious from our everyday experiences that there are stains that cannot be removed by some detergents. Some detergents only remove the stains partially, leaving faint marks of the dirt. However, there is usually a stronger detergent that can wipe off all the dirt. Detergents are used in physical realm to remove dirt. In the spiritual realm, the detergent used for cleansing is blood. The blood of an innocent lamb may be likened to the detergent that partially removes stains. That was not enough to take away the sins of the world. Jesus, the Lamb of God, was crucified to take away the sin of the world.

What does it mean to atone?

It means to compensate for something or to make up for something or to pay the penalty for something. For every broken law there is a compensation. For instance, companies compensate their customers because they may have failed to keep their promises or contracts with their customers. Here, the company has two options, compensate the customer, or be sued by the customer. In the same vein, mankind owes God some compensation. This is where God's mercy shows. From the Old Testament, God has been instructing mankind on how to pay this compensation. Take some time to imagine how many animals could have died by today just to cleanse mankind from their sins. Perhaps, God knew continually sacrificing innocent animals would cause chaos in years to come. So He planned for the greatest sacrifice that would be once and for all. Instead of just subjecting us to judgement, He has given us an option.
John 3: 16 - For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Even so, it is proper to say that a beautiful relationship was broken after disobeying God's command. In a relationship, if one breaches an agreement, it distorts the relationship. There would be less trust, less communication, unease or suspicion. This is what happened after Adam and Eve disobeyed God. They suddenly had something to hide from God. They were suddenly uncomfortable around God. When relationships are broken something has to be done to fix it. To atone also means to amend. The atonement or amendment for our relationship with God, is Jesus.
Propitiation is somewhat similar to atonement. To propitiate means to make favourably inclined, appease or conciliate. This is somewhat similar to the definition of atonement as the settlement. Reparation, or transfer of guilt to innocent animals.
Do you know Jesus? Do you believe that His blood can remit your sins?

Hosea 4:6
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Because you have rejected knowledge,
I also will reject you from being My priest.
Since you have forgotten the law of your God,
I also will forget your children.

I was walking back home from the library at 4am on Sunday, and there at the corner of the library were two young students making out. I was just at the breach of judging them in my mind, when I remembered that they may not know that what they're doing is wrong. Besides, it's not unusual to find people doing the same thing at the same time in the modern world. The world has ignored knowledge, they have rejected it. The law of God has been forgotten. In fact, obeying the law of God is seen as the practice of our forefathers.

Just as there is a consequence for every action, destruction is yielded by lack of knowledge. People would not have knowledge if they have not been taught, ...Romans 10:14
How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?...

Our duty as Christians is to prevent destruction by telling the gospel to the  world.  Jesus has commanded us to go... Mark 16:15 And He said to them, “ Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation... Unfortunately, most Christians do not even know what they have been called to do. The purpose of our salvation is to establish God's Kingdom in earth. Christians should not keep the knowledge of Christ to themselves. No matter how little the knowledge is, it is powerful enough to change someone's life. SPREAD THE WORD, SHOUT IT, SCREAM IT, CRY OUT TO THE WORLD...TELL THEM THAT THEY NEED JESUS!
